Inspirational Woman

Linda Norgrove: A scottish aid worker, who was devoted to ensuring that the people of Afghanistan would achieve prosperity and stability as their country was rebuilt. She was completely committed to her development work and she loved Afghanistan and its people. Linda was kidnapped and subsequently died during a failed rescue attempt in Afghanistan in October 2010.Linda chose to live a life that matters. She was a highly qualified and dedicated environmental expert, but it was her rare and precious gift of empathy with all people, no matter their condition, culture or beliefs, that was her driving force.Linda taught herself to speak Dari, an Afghan version of Persian, to help her establish proper relationships with her Afghan staff and the local communities she visited and worked in. This was clearly a key factor in the success of her work.”Linda loved Afghanistan and cared deeply for its people, and she was deeply committed to her development mission – she was an inspiration to many of us.” Her parents have set up the Linda Norgrove Foundation which is a new grant-giving trust that provides funding for women, families and children in Afghanistan. The Foundation provides help in the following areas; education, health, childcare, including orphanages and scholarships to help Afghan women go to university. Her parents are as admirable as their daughter, putting their savings into the foundation to continue to help the people of Afghanistan. Im sure Linda would be proud. Linda was an exceptional human being.
