home made christmas!

My daughter and I have been practising our home-made biscuits for christmas presents this year. We decided to make our own initially due to lack of cash, as I’m on maternity leave and my partner is a struggling artist! I have been surprised at how much fun it has been, my daughter is only three and she tries really hard and is so impressed and proud of what we make, it’s so satisfying. We are genuinely trying to make things people will enjoy.

Our ideas so far: home-made chocolate fudge, which we have practiced and was delicious, we have got cellophane to wrap them in and pretty ribbon to tie it with, we will make our own little labels too.

: Dark chocolate and hazelnut shortbread biscuits (really yummy).

: Iced biscuits in christmas shapes.

: For the men in the family  I got some cheap polo shirts which we will design with a personalised logo using a stencil and spray paint (handy having an artist in the family) it’s not difficult to do, just need to get creative.

: For Granddad, Great gran and Auntie, we have got some big terracotta plant pots which we are painting white and designing with colourful little hand prints from my little girl and my baby, we will and paint on ‘grandda’s flowers’ on them and we will plant some spring bulbs.

: We will also do our own christmas cards for family and close friends.

: Not quite home-made but we make a calendar online for the grand parents using photos of the kids. I recommend photo box, it’s not as cheap as the others (about £18) but brilliant quality, I’m always very happy with the result.

I only hope the recipients with enjoy the gifts as  much as we have enjoyed making them. We are full of the spirit of christmas  and excited, it has been great to avoid the shops buying people things they don’t need, we have made our simple gifts full of love and it feels really good. Would love to hear any ideas you have for gifts.
